Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD is a common neuro-behavioral disorder typically occurring in children. Even though adults may display ADHD symptoms, it is most common among children. The most common problems associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are the inability to control one’s behavior, inability to focus properly and the overactive behavior of the child. The American Psychiatric Association predicts that more than nine percent of school aged children are suffering from this disorder while 4% of adults are suffering too.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is divided into 3 sub categories. The first sub category is the predominately hyperactive-impulsive type of ADHD. The second sub category is the predominately inattentive type of ADHD. While the third category is a combination of both these types, which is known as combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive or ADHD combined type. According to the National Institute of Mental Health in the USA, most children suffer from ADHD combined type.
